PCA: Kristina Lehtimäki Wins Women’s Event

Before going into the Women’s Event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Kristina Lehtimäki had only one cash to her name. Now the Finnish player can call herself a champion after winning the Women’s Event, the trophy and the $8,902 first place prize.

Plenty of notables entered the event, including Team Pokerstars pros Fatima de Moirera de Melo, Adrienne “talonchick” Rowsome and Katerina ‘Katerina289′ Malasidou. Lehtimäki’s countrywoman, Miss Universe 2012, Sara Chafak played the event as well. Chafak  was recently on everybody’s lips after bluffing Ronnie Bardah off a big hand in the televised poker show the Shark Cage.

Lehtimäki, who mostly plays MTT’s online, told PokerStars Blog that she was very tired at the end of Day 1 as she rarely plays long live tournaments: “I kept checking my watch to see when the day was going to end.” Luckily Lehtimäki made it to Day 2 and the final table, that among others included PokerStars Team Online Katerina ‘Katerina289′ Malasidou

Soon after Lehtimäki was heads-up with England’s Maria Lampropulos, who was chip leader going into the day. Heads-up play lasted about an hour and in the final hand Lampropulos shoved from the button with

and was called by Lehtimäki with . The board came and Lehtimäki was crowned the 2015 Women’s Event champion.
